Cherished Hope came into our rescue program on October 20, 2014. Cherished Hope came to us from the Bristow Livestock Auction. I firmly believe that everyone needs to educate themselves when dealing in the horse industry. We have always heard about the Bristow Livestock Auction but have never attended. I decided it was time to check this sale out. I was surprised to learn that horses are sold by the pound, simply ran through like cattle and sold to the highest bidder by the pound. I witnessed some horses with paper taped to their sides labeling them as broke to ride, kid safe, etc., It was heartbreaking, specially when you know that you can't save them all and when you know where most of these horses end up. Horses sold anywhere from 15 cents a pound up to 65 cents a pound. I went to educate myself, but I quickly found myself trying to save what I could. Cherished Hope is a Beautiful, Black. Quarter Horse, Mare. Cherished Hope is estimated to be 20 years of age. She is a sweet girl and loves attention. She stands for the farrier and loads in the trailer. She is broke to ride, but we would like her to put on a bit more weight before we evaluate her under saddle. We will update as she progresses. Please consider making a donation towards Cherished Hope's Rehabilitation.
